Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia:

Dr Marilyn Meier Kapavale

TAKE a musical journey from the classical tones of Europe to the laid-back rhythms of Polynesia with renowned pianist, Dr Marilyn Meier Kapavale who will perform on Sunday March 21 at the USQ Arts Theatre in Toowoomba.

Drawing on her German and Tongan heritage, Marilyn will present a wonderfully diverse program of piano works by European masters including Mozart (Variations on Salve, tu Domine in F Major) and Chopin (Sonata No 2) and lesser know Tongan composers, Queen Salote Tupou III and Tu'imala Kaho.

Marilyn's extra-ordinary critical acclaim has established her as one of the foremost interpreters of the piano today.

Her studies and performances have taken her around the globe and seen her win many national and international awards.

Notable appearances have been as soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, ABC Symphony Orchestras, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Queensland Orchestra and in recital and chamber music in Australia, Japan, Europe, USA and the South Pacific.

The recital will be held on Sunday 21 March 2010, at 3.00pm at the University of Southern Queensland, Arts Theatre, Toowoomba campus. For further details contact: boxoffice@usq.edu.au. - Sponsored by USQ Multicultural Centre
