No useful purpose for arguing Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: The PM's Office and Ms. Mallaney of Global Integrity are busy ridiculing each other. (PM's Advisor . . . 05 Mar 2010). They have not stated any useful purpose for arguing in this forum. - Sione Akemeihakau Mokofisi. 09 Mar 2010, 17:28

Nothing really made sense San Francisco, USA: Mr. Lopeti Senituli, I frankly didn't find any contradictions committed by Ms. Mallaney as you have stated in your letter of March 5, 2010. From the beginning to the end, I tried to figure out how did Ms. Mallaney contradict the Procurement System of the Government of Tonga. Nothing really made sense. I am sorry about that! All I can read in Ms. Mallaney's letter, were statements of facts made by her to defend the individuals. - Siosaia Fatani. 09 Mar 2010, 17:12

PM's advisor defends Government procurement system Nuku'alofa, Tonga: Norah Mallaney's letter, "Major weaknesses in Tonga's procurement system" (3 Mar 10) is full of contradictions. Quite clearly she is peeved that the Hon Prime Minister's affidavit and evidence before the Commission did not lend support to her organisation's preconceived conclusion that the Government's procurement system is a ". . . porous legal and regulatory framework . . ." - Lopeti Senituli. 05 Mar 2010, 11:45

Major weaknesses in Tonga's procurement system Washington DC, USA: Tongans will always remember the day the Princess Ashika sank in the Pacific waters. However, as the inquiry has progressed, we were surprised to read the Prime Minister's statement that individuals' decisions, and not institutional government weakness, were to blame for the tragic accident. - Norah Mallaney, Global Integrity. 03 Mar 2010, 11:10

Absolute Monarchy not a trait of a free democratic society Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: The people's voice (Legislative Assembly) must challenge His Majesty's appointments of all judgeships as a matter of transparency in the "checks and balances" guarantee between the Three Branches of Government. The status quo is an "Absolute Monarchy" paradigm, not the traits of a free democratic society. - Sione Akemeihakau Mokofisi. 01 Mar 2010, 15:32

The government information network Scotland: Can someone help me understand the objective of the Ministry of Information and Communication? Did government create a Ministry to spin its propaganda? Then what is TV/Radio Tonga and the Chronicle for? Too much money wasted for the same information issued by different outlets! - William Wallace. 23 Feb 2010, 14:09

Government: Tell us more about the new Olovaha San Francisco, USA: The questions here are, "Why did Japan listen to Mr. Uata and not the Government of Tonga? This doesn't sound right. Something does not smell right here. The will of one individual is superior to the will of the people! Why did the Government of Tonga did not talk much about what Hon. 'Eseta Fusitu'a stated yesterday? - Siosaia Fatani. 14 Feb 2010, 12:32

Malo 'aupito brother, but people deserve to think for themselves Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: I am proud of your position as Parliament Broadcaster, Brother. But the people of Tonga deserve transparency and open debates to make intelligent decisions for themselves. Tonga is not an authoritarian regime where people are expected to accept government propaganda without asking questions. It is your duty to encourage lively debates, even inclusive of Tongan expatriates. - Sione Akemeihakau Mokofisi. 14 Feb 2010, 10:06

Brother Sione, come home 'Anana, Nuku'alofa, Tonga: It rather seems to me that Sione (my brother) should get on a plane and come home for awhile, so he can acquaint himself firsthand with the situation here in Tonga, rather than relying on erroneous and frequently self seeking reports to form his opinions. - Kitione Mokofisi. 12 Feb 2010, 19:12

PM fires 'Alisi to protect the king Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: Ms. 'Alisi Taumoepeau claims that PM Sevele did not like her legal opinion. Meanwhile, Dr. Sevele claims she was fired for questioning the King's constitutional authority, and that she intentionally misled Cabinet. Dr. Sevele is in fact protecting the King's preference to appoint the Chief Justice, and other judicial appointments. The PM must challenge this undemocratic practice instead: The King must not appoint justices without confirmation of the Legislative. - Sione Akemeihakau Mokofisi. 08 Feb 2010, 06:05
