Sharper, cleaner Nuku'alofa taking shape
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
Three years after the destruction in the Nuku'alofa Central Business District on November 16, 2006, the reconstruction of the capital is forging ahead and according to Charles Nepia, the reconstruction Project Engineer, much of the work should be completed by the end of 2010.

Tonga government blames PCPR for deaths and destruction in Nuku'alofa
Nuku'alofa, Tonga: Claims, contained in a confidential USP report, that the Tonga Government failed to see the urgency in the warning signs, were yesterday disputed by the Prime Minister's Press Secretary, Lopeti Senituli, who blamed "extremist" members of the PCPR for the deaths and destruction in Nuku'alofa on 16 November.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga: Six would-be bank robbers spent two hours trying to break into the safe of the MBF Bank in Nuku'alofa with an axe on the night of November 16, while the town burned - but botched the job so badly that an expert had to be flown into Tonga later to open the safe for the bank.
