Strong Wind Warning for Tonga waters
Nuku'alofa, Tonga: As Tropical Cyclone Tomas approaches the island of Vanua Levu, this evening the Category 4 system is expected to batter the islands of Fiji tonight and tomorrow, and if it continues to move south on its current track, Tonga may not be affected. But a strong wind warning remains in force for Tonga waters.

A contract for the construction of a $900,000 police station at Vaini was signed by the acting Minister of Police, Hon Dr Viliami Tangi and the Country Manager for Fletcher Royco Construction Company, Gary Martin, at the Police Headquarter, Longolongo on Friday, March 12.

Japan commits $11 million for Solar Home Systems
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
$11 million pa'anga for the installation of new Solar Home Systems in eleven remote island communities in Vava'u and two islands off Tongatapu was committed by the Government of Japan to Tonga last week.

Two tropical depressions forming in the South Pacific may possibly turn into Tropical Cyclones over the next few days, which could affect Tonga early next week, Tonga's chief meteorological officer advised.
