French-TDS joint military exercise at Taliai Camp
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
A two-weeks joint military exercise between French soldiers, who are based in New Caledonia, and soldiers from the Tonga Defence Services concluded at the Taliai Military Camp, Fua'amotu on November 21.

US Pacific Command, drops into Tonga for farewell lunch
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
The retiring Commander of the United States Pacific Command in Hawaii, Admiral Timothy J. Keating, dropped into to Tonga for lunch, arriving in a private aircraft on Friday, September 4, on a three-hour farewell visit.

Police question rescued "Santana" crewman
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
A New Zealand national, the sole person found on board a distressed yacht "Santana", is being questioned by the Tongan Police after telling rescuers that his captain had disappeared last week on a voyage between Rarotonga and Nuku'alofa.

Tonga's Iraq deployment ends with safe return home of soldiers
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
Tonga's last contingent of 55 Tongan soldiers who had been serving in Iraq arrived safely at the Fua'amotu International Airport at 5 am on December 18 on a special flight by a United States Airforce C17.

Tongan troops arrival home delayed
Nuku'alofa, Tonga: The arrival home of Tonga's last contingent of 55 soldiers to be deployed in Baghdad for the Operation Iraq Freedom II Peacekeeping Mission, has been delayed until Thursday December 18.

New TDS uniforms a gift from Indian Armed Forces

Tongan soldiers were given two sets of uniforms as a gift by the Indian Ambassador to Tonga, HE Dr Prbhakara in a handing over ceremony at the Tonga Defence Services Headquarter at Sene yesterday.

China promises aircraft for TDS

China will give the Tonga Defence Services an aircraft in the near future, the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr Fan Guijin promised at the TDS headquarters during a hand-over ceremony of eight trucks.

RNZAF Orion protects Tongan waters
Nuku'alofa, Tonga: A Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K Orion aircraft with 17 crew members arrived at Fua'amotu International Airport on November 5 for a three-day visit on its monthly surveillance mission of Tongan waters.
