A dog means many things Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: My fellow debater Mr. Fale may be using the metaphor "dog" to describe his opponents. In his most recent post, he may effectively did just that. Or he may even be telling his readers that he uses a "dog" to do his thinking for him, I don't know. Mr. Fale invited readers into his world to interpret his published writings in many different ways. - Sione A. Mokofisi. 06 Dec 2009, 11:37

Old dog can't learn new tricks Nuku'alofa, Tonga: How does having a positive attitude become misconstrued as being against transparency? It is a common saying, if you want to do a new trick get a new dog, because most of the time "you cannot teach the old dog new tricks". - Daniel K. Fale. 05 Dec 2009, 17:49

Transparency versus national pride Pago Pago, Amerika Samoa: While I agree with Tuisoso on transparency (but an ugly American idea), I am not surprised at Danny's perspective but I hope his national pride has not override his better judgment. - Sione Lousiale Kava. 04 Dec 2009, 21:36

Transparency blamed as anti-progress? Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: Mr. Fale must be up to something (Being positive . . . 30 Nov 2009) by lobbing personal attacks, and using gratuitous logics on fellow debaters who are asking for "transparency" from Government. - Sione A. Mokofisi. 02 Dec 2009, 08:28

Being positive produces positive results Nuku'alofa, Tonga: The point of my previous letter was to highlight the constant detrimental negativity surrounding any effort put forward by government to address real issues in Tonga. Because being negative has never produced positive results. - Daniel Fale. 30 Nov 2009, 19:52

Renewable energy, a work in progress Auckland, New Zealand: Whether history repeats itself or not is still a work in progress. As such, I wouldn't, as Daniel K Fale has done recently, advance this as a guiding principle to denounce the call for the lessons of history by your other correspondent, Tino Funaki from Canberra. - Sefita Hao'uli. 30 Nov 2009, 11:38

MAETEC tells us more Canberra, Australia: In short, we do not know anything about MAETEC Engineering other than they have done some tests of this 'world first technology' in Utah. - tino Funaki. 29 Nov 2009, 06:12

Yes, history repeats itself Nuku'alofa, Tonga: In 1886 the royal residence of King Kalakua in Hawaii became the first residence of any Head of State in the world to have electrical lighting, yes, even before the White House and Buckingham Palace. Yes, history repeats itself, this time the next international first will be the Polynesian island of Tonga - not Hawaii. - Daniel K. Fale. 29 Nov 2009, 05:22

History repeats itself Salt Lake City, Utah, USA: After $24 million evaporated, and 7 years later since Mr. Bogdonoff disappeared, Tonga has not learned a thing about transparency in Government. Spanish-American philosopher George Santayana (1863-1952) warned: "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." - Sione A. Mokofisi. 26 Nov 2009, 16:39

The long slog for renewable energy Pago Pago, Amerika Samoa: Over the last 15 years I have been directly involved with so many consultants to American Samoa being paid by the Federal Government to promote this renewable/alternative energy to the Territory. To date, the consultants have been paid handsomely of course, but no renewable energy, and the reasons are obvious. Serious managers will talk to those who have been to where they are trying to go, find out what the pros and the cons before stepping out on any wild pigs hunt.- Sione Lousiale Kava. 26 Nov 2009, 11:12
