Sheikh on flying visit to Tonga and Pacific Islands
Nuku'alofa, Tonga:
Arriving in Tonga tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday 9 February, on a private aircraft, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, will meet with Tongan royalty and government officials.

Ashika would not have left Fiji if due diligence was conducted
Nuku'alofa, Tonga: Due diligence is the normal process prior to the purchasing of anything, the Manager of the Regional Maritime Program of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) Captain John Hogan told the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the sinking of the Ashika, at the Fa'onelua Convention Center this afternoon, February 8.

Powerful weapons including a semi automatic assault rifle of a kind used in gang warfare, have been seized by the police in Tongatapu, who are this week urging the public to report the whereabouts of other illegal weapons that may be on the island.

Warwick Hotels president announces five-star hotel for Vava'u
Taunga Island, Vava'u:
Tonga's first luxury five star hotel is to be built on the small island of Taunga in Vava'u by Warwick International Hotels, whose president and founder Richard Chiu announced on the island yesterday that he expects construction to start at the end of 2010 or early 2011.

A wannabe musician tribute to Futa Helu
Pago Pago, Amerika Samoa: I was a young student at 'Atenisi when it was in Kolofo'ou. I have been a great admirer of Futa since Atenisi Institute was relocated to a block away from my family's resident in Kolomotu'a. I was a "wannabe musician" student of the late Sofele Kakala in 1973 when Dr. John H. Appleton visited Tonga High School. Futa blessed American Samoa Tongan Community with his Afo Koula Group a few years ago. - Mafi 'o 'Amerika Samoa.
