Looking for Rusty's child Email this article
 Printer friendly page

Editor,

Marion Floyd "Rusty" Gudgel

Marion Floyd "Rusty" Gudgel, Jr was a survivor of the "Lexington," which sunk May, 1942 during the Battle of Coral Sea. He was transferred to Tongatabu where he remained for a year. During that time he fathered a child with one of the Tongan residents.

I'm asking for your help in locating information about this child - my cousin -- who would have been born between February, 1943 and February, 1944. I do not know the gender of my uncle's child, nor the name of the child's mother. The reference to my uncle's nickname, "Rusty" refers to his reddish blond hair.

Your help is likely the only way this long-time family mystery will ever be solved.

Sincerely,

Dianne Gudgel
