TONGA was in ninth position at the final medal tally of the 8th South Pacific Mini Game which ended at Rarotonga, Cook Islands on October 2.
Tonga won a total of 19 medals, four Gold, nine Silver, and six Bronze.
Fiji, however was the winner of the 8th South Pacific Mini Game after winning 78 medals, 32 Gold, 26 Silver and 20 Bronze.
In second place was New Caledonia with 66 medals, 23 Gold, 21 Silver and 22 Bronze, and in third place was Tahiti with 59 medals, 21 Gold, 22 Silver and 16 Bronze.
Wallis and Futuna and the Norfolk Islands were tie at the bottom of the tally with one bronze medal each.
The three island countries that did not get any medal at all were Guam, Marshall Islands and the Northern Marianas.
'Ana Po'uhila was the Tongan golden girl at the Mini Game. 'Ana won three gold medals for Tonga, in Discus Throw, Hammer Throw and Shot Put.
'Ana won the first medal for Tonga in Discus Throw with a 53.10m throw. Her second medal came from a 50.7m hammer throw, and her third medal came from a 16.53m shot put.
Tonga's fourth medal was won by 'Inoke Finau, after winning the men's 110m hurdle with a 15.62 second dash.

Among the sports that Tonga participate in but did not win a medal was Triathlon. The two Tongan athletes who represented Tonga in Triathlon were 'Alo Fe'iloakitau in the Men's Individual categories, and Marie Fonua in the Women's Individual categories.

The Men's Individual was dominated by athletes from the French Terretories, the gold was won by David Esposito, New Caledonia with a time of 2h 6m 39s; silver to Laurent Barra, Tahiti with a time of 2h 8m 31s; and the bronze to Aymeric Levasseur, New Caledonia with a time of 2h 9m 18s. 'Alo was in eighth place with a time of 2h 35m 3s. Eleven athletes competed in the Men's Individual category.
The Women's Individual was dominated by New Caledonia. The gold, silver and bronze went to New Caledonia. Erika Ellis won the gold with a time of 2h 24m 45s, the silver went to Catherine Grangeon, with a time of 2h 28m 35s, and the bronze to Kandy point with a time of 2h 31m 37s. Marie came in at eighth place with a time of 2h 42m 9s. Thirteen athletes competed in the Women's Individual category.
